Habakkuk 3:18 “…yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Saviour.”

o Give thanks to our righteous and just God for all his goodness.
o Pray for the work of medical and dental charities at in the UK and overseas. Pray that the services they provide may be restarted safely and for volunteers willing to help.
o Pray for Professor Raman Bedi in his work with Global Child Dental Fund. Pray for effective strategies and worldwide cooperation.
o Continue to pray for CDF Council and Prince Thomas, President, as he leads the Fellowship forward.

We continue to pray from the CDF Prayer Calendar for dentists in private practices who have suffered financially, now trying to return to normality.

Joshua 1:9 ...Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

o Give thanks that this virus is generally reducing in the UK. Pray for areas where local lockdowns are in force. Pray for our Muslim brothers and sisters as they celebrate Eid in these difficult times.
o Pray for practices as they get to grips with the new reality of dentistry with additional PPE, social distancing and other protective measures.
o Pray especially for our dental nurses in their vital role. Pray for fortitude, enthusiasm and wisdom.
o Pray for technicians and dental businesses and the services they provide.
o Pray for effective supply chains.

We continue to pray from the CDF Prayer Calendar for Raman Bedi who writes: “Pray for the future of the Global Child Dental Fund as they discuss possibilities of merging with other medical charities. Pray for wisdom for the trustees.”

Psalm 121:1 “I lift my eyes to the mountains - where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

o Be thankful that we have a God who casts out fear.
o Pray against the spirit of fear that seems to be affecting people.
o Pray for associates who may be asked to sign unfair contracts by some principals and corporates. Pray the spirit of fairness will prevail.
o Pray for those providing caring, wellbeing and mental health services .

We continue to pray from the CDF Prayer Calendar. Pray for Mark Kondowe providing dental treatment in Malawi. Pray for the people in that land where there are extensive famine areas.

Isaiah 25:1 “Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things; things planned long ago.”

o Praise God for the good things that are happening. Give thanks for those coming to faith during these uncertain times.
o Give thanks for the CDF zoom Prayer Meeting on Saturday and the opportunity to share fellowship with colleagues and friends.
o Pray for patients. Give thanks for their patience and fortitude. Pray they may receive the treatment they need.
o Pray that receptionists and managers may have the right words as they take calls. For kindness and compassion.

We continue to pray from the CDF Prayer Calendar for Tony and Ann Giles, that they will use their time profitably while in UK, hoping to return to Hope Medical Centre, Guinea, in November.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

o Thank you for the opportunities in the midst of the crisis. Time to reflect and reconnect, to turn our hearts to You.
o Pray for opportunities to share the gospel with colleagues and friends.
o Pray for those who have not been able to receive healthcare treatment due to the pandemic. For those with undiagnosed or untreated mental and physical conditions.
o Pray for the delivery of flu vaccinations programmes in the four nations.

We continue to pray from the CDF Prayer Calendar for Andy and Eira Patching in Zambia running a rural hospital. Andy has been supervising the building of an outpatients clinic, the site is now nearly completed.

Friday 7th August 2020

Isaiah 41:10 “Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous hand.”

o Give thanks for those recovering from Covid-19. Give thanks for the breakthroughs in treatment including the use of dexamethasone. Continue to pray for research into an effective vaccine.
o Pray for those who have lost loved ones. For families, friends and colleagues.
o Pray for frontline staff, medical colleagues and care home staff. Pray for essential support staff and key workers.
o Pray for Neil and Jane. At short notice they are to deliver their teaching via PowerPoint. Pray that it will be approved by the authorities in time and their “students' imaginations [may continue] to roam”.

We continue to pray from the CDF Prayer Calendar for Keith and Lynne Smith who are currently in UK. They ask us to pray for friends in Burkina Faso seeking to buy land as a base for ministry to unreached Fulani Muslims. Keith is sending out messages for the Fulani Christians weekly by WhatsApp.

Saturday 8th August 2020

Romans 8:15 “The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba Father’.”

o Give thanks that we have a God who hears and answers prayer. Give thanks for answered prayer and that we may persevere in prayer.
o Give thanks for the wealth of experience and wisdom of our retired members, for their good health and wellbeing.
o Pray for Simon and Grace Stretton Downes serving in ELWA mission hospital, Liberia. There are many patients, often with large tumours, and currently no pathology services available. Pray that borders will reopen and they may be able to access pathology services in Guinea.

We continue to pray from the CDF Prayer Calendar. Give thanks for the large support of CDF in Scotland. Pray for Colin Levey and the Scotland planning group, preparing for a future meeting. Pray for the members in practices and on the staff of dental schools.

Psalm 18:32-33 “It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights.”

o Give thanks that our God is good, his love endures forever.
o Pray for those leading teams, for rest and reassurance that God holds them in his hands.
o Pray for academics and dental hospital staff in the four nations.
o Pray for the work of CDF supporting colleagues both overseas and at home.
o Pray that friends and colleagues may receive your love, peace and support through the Pastoral Care and Prayer teams.

We continue to pray from the CDF Prayer Calendar for the Christians in SW Mandalay, Myanmar to whom Nigel and Jane Paget ministered last year. Christians are under persecution in that country.
