Psalm 18:32-33 "It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights."

o Give thanks that our God is good, his love endures forever.
o Pray for those leading teams, for rest and reassurance that God holds them in his hands.
o Pray for academics and dental hospital staff in the four nations.
o Pray for the work of CDF supporting colleagues both overseas and at home. Pray that friends and colleagues may receive your love, peace and support through the Pastoral Care and Prayer teams.

We continue to pray from the CDF Prayer Calendar for Christian staff and students in our dental schools in their witness, particularly needing discernment in conversing with Muslim students.

Monday 29th June 2020

Isaiah 40:28-29 “The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no-one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”

o Give thanks that the Lord is our strength and shield and supplies the armour we need. (Ephesians 6:13-17)
o Pray for dentists and all dental personnel with underlying health issues who are fearful going back to work.
o Pray for consultants in Dental Public Health as they seek to be a positive voice for dentistry. Pray for the Offices of the Chief Dental Officers in the four nations.
o Pray for individuals and families who are more adversely affected by the coronavirus in health and economic terms.

We continue to pray from the CDF Prayer Calendar: Keith and Lynne Smith write, “We have found a company willing to drill wells for a vast need in Gorom for refugees. We have enough money. Pray it will be a powerful witness for Christ.”

Psalm 103:1 “Praise the Lord, my soul; all my utmost being praise his holy name.”

o “Praise my soul the King of heaven, to his feet your tribute bring.” Praise and worship God.
o Pray for all academic and clinical teachers in our dental schools. Pray for Neil and Jane as they prepare lectures for their students in the far away land.
o Pray for the CDF zoom meeting for students, FDs and those newly qualified, scheduled on Thursday this week @ 7pm. The title is Moving Forward-discussing career choices. Pray many will see and respond to the invitation.
o Give thanks for the excellent response to the distribution of the magazine, Hope in a Coronavirus world, in Ayrshire, Scotland. Continue to pray that the message may save souls and transform lives.

We continue to pray from the CDF Prayer Calendar for Simon and Grace Stretton Downes working at Trinity Dental Clinic in Liberia. The tree falling on their roof reminds us of their safety and health in the humid atmosphere. Pray for the Spirit’s enabling in their work in the hospital. Give thanks for their newly appointed receptionist and continue to pray for wisdom & insight regarding financial and clinical matters.

Psalm 103:2 “Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”

o Give thanks to God who forgives, heals, redeems, crowns and satisfies his children.
o Pray blessing on all those joining our prayer meetings.
o Pray for those unable to join in due to work commitments. For all feeling separated from loved ones and colleagues.
o Pray for Andy and Eira Patching our Mission Partners in Zambia. Currently coronavirus has not spread to their area, but their hospital is designated an isolation hospital. Pray for their colleague Chonde who is short of the money he needs to pay for his son’s medical school fees in China.

We continue to pray from the CDF Prayer Calendar. Give thanks for the report of Ann Varghese in Three-in-One of her time in India, “becoming more sensitive to understanding culture values and beliefs in patients.” Pray that more students will gain this wider experience in going for student electives overseas. Pray for Ann and the Christian students in Sheffield.

Psalm 103:6 “The Lord works righteousness and justice for the oppressed.”

o Give thanks to our righteous and just God.
o Pray for the CDF zoom meeting for students, FDs and newly qualified scheduled for tonight @7pm.
o Pray for dentists and dental practices as they return to work in Scotland. Pray for patients.
o Continue to pray for practices in the other nations and for their patients.
o Pray for staff with underlying health conditions or vulnerable families that they may be treated fairly and compassionately.

We continue to pray from the CDF Prayer Calendar. Pray for the Holy Spirit’s inspiration in all the members of CDF Council as they undertake their tasks. Pray for the Lord’s leading as they meet by zoom on Saturday 11th July.

Psalm 103:8 “The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.”

o Give thanks to our loving and compassionate God for all his goodness.
o Pray for all people who are working under huge stress and pressure to do their jobs. Pray they may cope and employers will be sympathetic and just.
o Pray for those with wellbeing and mental health needs. Pray that all may have access to the care, support and treatment they need.
o Pray for the CDF Pastoral Care and Prayer team members and their families.

We continue to pray from the CDF Prayer Calendar for the 210 dentists who have attended the Senior Dental Leadership programmes, led by Raman Bedi during the past 13 years. We pray for their continued commitment to ensure dental care is provided for the poorest children in the world.

Saturday 4th July 2020

Psalm 103:17 “But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness in with their children’s children.”

o Give thanks that we are redeemed through the sacrificial love of Jesus.
o Pray for individuals and families who are struggling with any kind of difficulty or problem.
o Help us to know how we can support colleagues. Give us courage to challenge unjust decisions.

We continue to pray from the CDF Prayer Calendar for the teams working in Burkina Faso trained by Lynne Smith (currently in UK). There are many local people and refugees requiring treatment. There is fear of the virus and of pain. Pray for courage, safety and the peace of God in this unstable area.

Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

o Give thanks that our hope is in God alone.
o There is uncertainty about the future of dentistry, pray for wisdom and discernment at all levels of decision-making and peace and strength for the days ahead.
o Pray for all in positions of leadership, for clear thinking and strong leadership in policy and decision making.
o Continue to pray that the correct PPE is available to all who need it.

We continue to pray from the CDF Prayer Calendar for Karen Paterson, CDF Pastoral Care Coordinator and the team helping those in the profession going through difficult times. Pray also for the NHS Practitioner Health programme, helping those with stress, depression and mental health problems.
